The Hyundai Ioniq was the grand winner of the 2017 World Women's Car of the Year. It was the Korean model that gathered the greatest consensus in this edition with the panel composed of 25 judges, from 20 countries, including Portugal, represented by the journalist Carla Ribeiro. The Hyundai Ioniq thus succeeds the Jaguar F-Pace, which in 2016 was named World Women's Car of the Year.
In this competition, only models launched in the current year and which, cumulatively, are available in at least ten world markets, are eligible. This year's edition started with a total of 400 models, later reduced to a «short-list» of 60 models. The Hyundai Ioniq thus ended up being the model that received the most votes, being also named “Green Car of the Year”.
