Heavyweight Devel Sixty 6x6 surprises Mercedes-AMG GT in drag race

The name Devel is no stranger to Reason Automobile. It's the brand that wants to market the Sixteen, a hyper-sport where the base version — I repeat, base — debits 2000 hp, a value that it knows for the 5000 hp in the circuit version thanks to a V16 with 12.3 l — yes, read well, 12 300 cm3 — with four turbos.

But it's not the only “car” they have in development. Your other beast couldn't have been more distinguished. THE Devel Sixty it's a… thing, straight out of an apocalyptic movie, with six sprockets, six seats (with an option for seven) and power, even a lot of power. Somewhere in its bowels lies a V8 Turbo Diesel with 6.7 l and more than 700 hp of power and 1000 Nm of torque — a 1500 hp variant is apparently in the works.

And despite the volume and (presumably a lot) weight, it's fast, with Devel just announcing 5.8s to 96 km/h (60 mph) , with common sense electronically limiting this creature to 150 km/h.

Devel Sixty

It wouldn't be the first choice that would come to us for a drag race, but that's what happened. The opponent is the much “lower” and lighter Mercedes-AMG GT S, equipped with a twin turbo V8 of 4.0 l and 522 hp, which declares 3.8s from 0 to 100 km/h.

Results are predictable, right?

It's 2.0s less up to 100 km/h, but in the video, the superiority of the Mercedes-AMG GT seems to have vanished — the start was not good, let's say — but, results aside, what truly impressive is the way the Devel Sixty “soars” towards the horizon.

A second race pits the Devel Sixty against the Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G63, G65?) — which also burns the starter — giving the Sixty a “victory”.

The video starts a little before the two races, but first, the author of the video gives us a better understanding of the fascinating Devel Sixty. Known specs sometimes appear to be part of a military vehicle, a tank for civilian use.
