The next generation BMW 5 Series was envisioned by designer Remco Meulendijk from the lines of the new 7 Series.

The presentation of the new generation of the BMW 5 Series is due to take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March of next year. But thanks to the talent of designer Remco Meulendijk, we can get a glimpse beforehand of what the Munich brand has in store for us.

To create these images of the new BMW 5 Series, Meulendijk took inspiration from the new generation of the BMW 7 Series, the SUV X5 and the facelift of the 3 Series.

In addition to the features, the BMW 5 Series will have much more in common with its big brother. The two ranges will use the CLAR platform, which will mean a decrease in weight of around 100kg and a qualitative upgrade in the Series 5. The interiors will also be very similar to each other, with a more technological instrument panel, to image of what we found on the BMW flagship.

As for performance, a successor to the 3-liter tri-turbo engine with 400hp is expected. The plug-in hybrid version, as found in the current generation of the BMW 3 Series will also be one of the options available. We will continue to have the usual two- and 3-litre four- and six-cylinder engines, at various power levels, petrol and diesel.

For next year, a touring version of the BMW 5 Series is also expected, as well as a more familiar version (GT), which will be introduced after the launch of the German car's saloon.
