This Maybach 62 covered over 1 million km

It is from the small principality of Lichtenstein that another example of the notorious strength and durability of the German automobile industry comes to us. A Maybach 62 managed to surpass the million kilometer mark.

Acquired in 2004 by Josef Weikinger, a Lichtenstein businessman, the Maybach 62 that we are introducing you to today is yet another example of the "mythical" strength and longevity of German cars. A car that over the years was certainly driven by the hands of a driver. And in mid-2009, it managed to reach the million kilometer mark.

We know that at that time, the odometer stopped at 999.999 km, thus comfortably overcoming the difficult mark of one million kilometers.

When it comes to repairs, the original engine – a V12 5.5 Twin-Turbo with 550 hp, of Mercedes origin – was replaced after 600,000 kilometres, as was the gearbox, front shock absorbers and minor repairs to the electrical systems. As we found out, the engine change was more of a precautionary measure than a necessity.

Josef Weikinger's Maybach 62 had its farewell at the end of nine years, when the businessman decided to replace it with another model of the brand, however by that time the luxury manufacturer had already closed its doors. So the choice had to fall on another brand. Currently, Josef Weikinger travels aboard a BMW 760Li, a car much more discreet than its predecessor, which surprisingly is still in the «active» in the hands of a second owner. On the way to 2 million?!
