The entire range of models from DS Automobiles It already has electrified versions (E-Tense) today, from plug-in hybrids on the DS 4, DS 7 Crossback and DS 9, to the all-electric DS 3 Crossback.
The strong commitment to electrification, where all models launched by DS since 2019 have electrified versions, allowed the premium brand of Stellantis to have the lowest average CO2 emissions among all multi-energy manufacturers in 2020, with a record of 83.1 g/km. The electrified versions on DS already account for 30% of total sales.
The next step would, of course, be to evolve in the electrification of its portfolio and in this sense, DS Automobiles, as we have seen in other manufacturers, also decided to mark the change to its complete electrification on the calendar.
2024, the key year
So, from 2024, all new DS released will be 100% electric only. A new phase in the young builder's existence — born in 2009, but only in 2014 would it become a brand independent of Citroën — which will begin with the launch of the 100% electric variant of the DS 4.
Shortly thereafter, we will discover a new 100% electric model, with a new design, which will also be the first 100% electric project of the entire Stellantis group based on the STLA Medium platform (this will be premiered a year earlier, with a new generation of the Peugeot 3008). This new model will feature a new high-capacity battery, with 104 kWh, which should guarantee a substantial range of 700 km.
The future exclusive bet on electrics will be reflected in the competition, with DS, through the DS TECHEETAH team, having renewed its presence in Formula E until 2026, going in the opposite direction of the German premium brands, which have already announced their departure.
In Formula E, success has followed the DS: it is the only one to have won two consecutive team and driver titles — the last of which with the Portuguese driver António Félix da Costa.
Finally, the transition to being a 100% electric car manufacturer will be complemented by the reduction of its carbon footprint in its industrial activity, in line with the approach taken by Stellantis.
