McLaren prepares track-focused electric sports car

The new high-performance, zero-emissions model will be positioned below the McLaren P1.

Contrary to what has been speculated, the new sports car will not be the direct successor of the P1, but a model that will integrate McLaren's Ultimate Series range – thus joining the P1 and P1 GTR. As for the successor to the hybrid sports car - whose production of 375 units ended last December -, it should not be presented until 2023, due to the fact that current technologies still do not justify such a large investment.

Little is known about this new McLaren model, but according to AutoExpress, which cites sources close to the British brand, the sports car will be faster than the Super Series models (675 LT, 650S Spider, etc), and it could even be the first electric production car to surpass the 320 km/h barrier.

Completely track-focused (although it's road-legal), the next limited-production model is expected to be priced under a million pounds, 1.3 million euros.
