Electric vehicle users create the UVE association

Introduced last week in Lisbon, UVE is a non-profit association whose main objectives are to highlight market innovations associated with electric mobility, as well as holding meetings, conferences and training sessions on the various aspects of this theme - vehicles electrical, driving, batteries and charging system.

According to UVE's calculations, there are currently more than 3 thousand electric vehicles in circulation in Portugal. However, after this statement, Henrique Sánchez, president of the UVE Board of Directors, adds:

It is not known how many of them are companies, but the fact is that sales to this channel have increased a lot since the Green Tax Reform entered into force.

During the presentation, UVE repeatedly defended that the value of the incentive to purchase electric vehicles should not be changed, claiming that the 2016 OE proposal "sends an absolutely contrary message to everything that is written" on this topic. After analyzing the State Budget proposal for the year 2016, regarding the incentive to purchase electric vehicles, the association came across a contradiction to what had been previously written about Electric Mobility in the electoral program by the PS.

The Association expresses its dissatisfaction with the setback of incentives for the acquisition of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, and reinforces that the conditions of the public charging network (Mobi.E) of electric vehicles must be recovered and maintained, given that, currently, most are in “complete abandonment”.

In addition to the above-mentioned proposals, the Association also requires that electric vehicles be authorized to circulate in the BUS lanes for buses and taxis, as well as exemption from payment of tariffs required for accesses to Lisbon and on highways throughout the country. .

UVE also underlines that these measures are already in force in numerous countries, highlighting Norway as a reference in terms of support for the development of Electric Mobility.
