What if instead of a Renault 5 an electric Clio like this was born?

Renault's electric future in the B-segment will be made with “names of the past”, with the return of the Renault 5 as well as the iconic 4L already confirmed. Still, a group of design students, with support from the Renault design center in France, decided to imagine what the next generation of the Renault Clio, 100% electric.

The design of “Clio VI” is designed by students at the Strate design school. The exterior design was carried out by Titouan Lemarchand and Guillaume Mazerolle and the interior was designed by César Barreau. Marco Brunoni, a designer at Renault, had the “task” of supervising the entire project.

The objectives behind this project couldn't be simpler: in addition to exploring the creative capacity of young designers, this project also aimed to imagine a four-seater vehicle based on Renault's electric platform.

Look (very) futuristic

As you would expect in a concept (especially one conceived by young students), this Renault Clio VI adopts several solutions whose applicability in the real world would, at first sight, be difficult.

At the front, the highlights are the LED headlamps inspired by those used by Mégane eVision, the aggressive look, the short and “open” hood and, of course, the new (but here small) Renault logo. At the rear, we have eye-catching LED headlights that “hug” the entire rear, a huge diffuser and a double spoiler.

As for the rest of the design of this Clio VI, the biggest highlight is, without a doubt, the huge glazed surface — a contrast to so many other models these days. The entire cabin is “surrounded” by glass, a material that is used for the roof and… the doors. As for the windshield, this one is extremely inclined, bringing to mind the solutions used in minivans.

Finally, inside, there are benches that look more like pieces of furniture, the “floating” center console and the slender, wave-shaped dashboard. As it could only be a prototype that “points” to the future, the physical commands disappeared.

Taking into account the look of this prototype and what we've already seen of the Renault 5 Prototype, I leave you a question: which one would you prefer to be the future of Renault in the B-segment? What brings to the present a certain aroma of the past or this proposal that looks resolutely to the future?
