Nissan returns to the hatchback market with the new Nissan Pulsar, a model that replaces the already absent Almera (let's forget you hear a Tiida in the middle…). The new model of the Japanese brand will face rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, Opel Astra, Ford Focus, Kia Cee’d, among others.

Using the new design of the Japanese brand, introduced by the Nissan Qashqai and also by the new Nissan X-Trail, the new Pulsar enters the market with the objective of matching the best models in the C segment. market share in the European space, in one of the segments that represents one of the highest sales volumes.

At 4,385mm long, the Pulsar is 115mm longer than the Golf. A trend accompanied by the wheelbase which is also 63mm longer, for a total of 2700mm. Exact data are not yet available, but Nissan says its new hatchback offers more room for rear occupants than the competition.

In technological terms the new Pulsar will feature LED headlights and a new range of engines. We are talking about the modern 1.2 DIG-Turbo petrol engine with 113hp and the well-known 1.5 dCi engine with 108hp with 260Nm of torque. At the top of the range we will find a 1.6 Turbo petrol engine. with 187hp.

The sports offer was not forgotten. The Golf GTI will have another rival in Pulsar. NISMO wanted to give the Nissan Pulsar its own personal touch and the result promises. There is a version with 197hp taken from the same 1.6 Turbo engine, while the hottest version of all, the Nissan Pulsar Nismo RS will feature 215hp and will be equipped with a mechanical differential on the front axle.

Nissan claims that the Pulsar should be one of the safest cars in the segment, thanks to the adoption of the Active Safety Shield. A system from the Japanese brand that is already available on X-Trail, Qashqai and Juke models. A system that includes automatic braking, lane departure warning and a set of 360-degree cameras that provide better peripheral vision when exiting the parking lots, eliminating blind spots.

The Nissan Pulsar was developed on Her Majesty's land, England and will and will be built in Barcelona. The name Pulsar will now be used globally, leaving behind the European name Almera. The new hatchback from Nissan will hit the market in the fall with prices around €20,000.
