The Municipality of Cascais approved yesterday the purchase of the Estoril Autodrome by the municipality for almost five million euros. Boosting local economic activity, attracting more tourists and creating jobs are the watchwords.

Yesterday, a new phase in the life of the Autodromo do Estoril was inaugurated. It abandoned the sphere of Párpublica – the entity that managed the circuit's destinations on behalf of the State – and became the property of the Cascais City Council.

A deal valued at a total of 4.92 million euros, the DN advanced, but that will not stop there. The Cascais City Council has 80 million euros earmarked for the revitalization of the municipality's heritage, where the Estoril Autodrome is now located.

The aim of Carlos Carreiras, president of the municipality, is that the racecourse will be used for tests at the beginning of the season of Formula 1, Moto GP, FIA GT World Championship, European Le Mans Series, Spanish GT and Formula Championship 3.
