After the Golf update and the launch of the new Arteon – two novelties that were present at the Geneva Motor Show – Volkswagen has now turned its attention to the competitive B-segment, which is, so to speak, for the new generation of Volkswagen Polo.Once again, it is assumed that the Volkswagen Polo will once again approach its older brother, the Volkswagen Golf, both in aesthetic and technological terms. One of the new features of the new Polo will be the use of the shorter version of the MQB platform that equips the Golf – the same as the new Seat Ibiza.

As such, significant changes are expected in this new generation of Polo, starting with the dimensions. The new model should be slightly longer and wider than the current one, gaining interior space and road holding.
Information is still scarce, but it is certain that the new Volkswagen Polo will receive a new infotainment system and a redesigned dashboard, as well as undergo an upgrade in the materials used. Some of the new elements, such as the front seats, can be carried over directly from the renovated Golf.
Gasoline Engines Will Gain Expression
As for the range of engines, the debut of the long-awaited 1.5 TDI engine is an "out of the deck" card. This is said by Volkswagen's own research and development director, Frank Welsch, justifying himself with the costs inherent to complying with emission regulations.
However, the new generation Volkswagen Polo will continue to be available with diesel engines, namely with the current 1.6 TDI. The TSI 1.0 Turbo three-cylinder engine will also return, with powers that should fluctuate between 85 hp and 115 hp. The 1.5 TSI engine should also be present in the GT version.
The CrossPolo version may have its days numbered, this because Volkswagen is preparing an SUV version of the Polo. The presentation of the Volkswagen Polo is scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show, which starts on September 14th, but until then, more news from the Wolfsburg brand is to be expected.
