The Techart 718 Boxster will be one of the highlights of the German preparer at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Techart's improvements to the Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman S aren't just aesthetic, there are also surprises in store in the engine compartment.
Unlike other preparers, Techart preferred to keep some discretion. Compared to the series model, the Techart 718 Boxster has few changes, counting only a front bumper with upper air intake and splitter, and on the side, fins in body color.
At the rear the changes are more extensive. The rear diffuser takes on (once more…) the body color and it's impossible not to notice the larger wing, also in the body color.
In dynamic terms, the Techart 718 Boxster features less than 30mm in height and 21-inch Formula IV wheels. Two factors that together should give both the coupé and the Stuttgart roadster a sharper performance.
The best is the unseen
And what you don't see is the work Techart has done in the engine compartment. The 718's new 2.5 liter turbo four-cylinder opposing engine gained 50 hp of power and 60 Nm of maximum torque.
The numbers are now more interesting: 400 hp and 480 Nm of maximum torque (available as early as 2800 rpm). Acceleration from 0-100km/h is achieved in just 3.9 seconds , enough to frame the Porsche 911 Carrera S in the rearview mirror.
As for the top speed, it is now 296 km/h, a value marginally higher than the 285 km/h of the 718 Boxster S because the superior downforce doesn't allow for better. Optionally, Techart 718 Boxster customers can also choose an exhaust developed by the rig exclusively for this model. The “roar” of the flat-four engine will certainly win.
