Arash AF8, the British alternative

Anonim

The AF8, from the small British manufacturer Arash, will also use the Helvetic stage for the public debut of its new model.

The Geneva Motor Show is not only made by big manufacturers and the little Arash, after 4 years since the launch of its last model, the AF10, reveals the brand new Arash AF8. The AF10 inherits the engine, originating from GM, a V8 with 7 liters and 557hp at 6500 rpm and 640Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The transmission is “old-school”, manual and with 6 speeds, and in order to enhance its reliability in dealing with the full force of the V8, it receives an independent oil cooler.

The V8's numbers are generous and at just 1200kg in weight, considerably less than other sports cars of similar horsepower (eg the new 458 Speciale is 195kg heavier), it's to be expected that the Arash AF8 will deliver performances to glue the back to the seats. , as advertised 3.5 sec. from 0-96 km/h can attest. It also promises 200 mph (over 320km/h) of top speed, so it's good to stop as well as it goes forward. For this task, we found some conventional but efficient and generous, ventilated steel discs, with 380mm at the front and 360mm at the rear.

Steel is also the material of choice for your skeleton, which is tubular in type. Complementing it are hexagonal hybrid structures (like a honeycomb), in aluminum and carbon fiber, which make up the passenger compartment panels. High-strength steel side tubes and integrated front and rear roll-cages ensure the required durability and safety. And we can still find at strategic points the use of kevlar and carbon fiber that add additional structural strength.

Covering this skeleton we find a “skin” in carbon fiber, with the customer having the option of not covering it with paint, exposing only the texture of the carbon. The AF8 may not have the more sophisticated looks of more established competition, or even the visual appeal of the 2003 Arash Farboud GTS, but the lines work from an aerodynamic standpoint, complemented by a smooth bottom, a rear hood, and front and rear spoilers. .

The interior is characterized by the abundant use of carbon fiber and the use of leather details, to elevate the atmosphere on board. As equipment we can find a touchscreen with built-in GPS and Bluetooth. The front optics are Bi-Xenon type, while the rear are LED.

The launch of the Arash AF8 will feature a "First Edition", which will correspond to just 36 units, all of them in the yellow color that we can see in the images, plus other special touches, such as brake shoes in titanium tones and a rear wing and carbon fiber engine cover.
