The Hyundai i30 SW, the van variant of the i30, has just arrived in Portugal. The brand may be South Korean, but the i30 SW couldn't be more European. Like the i30, it was developed in Germany at Hyundai's base in Rüsselsheim, with a rigorous testing program at the Nürburgring, and is produced in Nosovice, Czech Republic. A strategic option for the brand to bring its new products closer to European tastes.
Visually, like the car from which it derives, the i30 SW presents a more elegant and less aggressive styling than its predecessor, without having lost the fluidity of the lines. There's no missing the cascading grill, the chrome frame on the side windows or the new luminous signature.
Of course, the differences from the car focus on the elongated rear volume. It's 245 mm longer, allowing the luggage compartment to increase to 602 liters, 74 liters more than the predecessor and 207 liters more than the i30. The final dimensions are 4,585 m long, 1,465 m high (1,475 m with roof bars), 1,795 m wide and 2.65 m wheelbase.
Predictably, the i30 SW's range of powertrains and transmissions reflects what can already be found in the car. The range of engines for Portugal is made up as follows:
- 1.0 TGDI - 120 hp – 5.2 l/100 km (combined) – 120 g CO2/km – six-speed manual gearbox
- 1.4 TGDI - 140 hp – 5.5 l/100 km (combined) – 129 g CO2/km – six-speed manual gearbox
- 1.4 TGDI - 140 hp – 5.5 l/100 km (combined) – 125 g CO2/km – seven-speed DCT (double clutch) gearbox
- 1.6 CRDI - 110 hp – 3.8 l/100 km (combined) – 99 g CO2/km – six-speed manual gearbox
- 1.6 CRDI - 110 hp – 4.3 l/100 km (combined) – 112 g CO2/km – seven-speed DCT (double clutch) gearbox
- 1.6 CRDI - 136 hp – 3.9 l/100 km (combined) – 102 g CO2/km – six-speed manual gearbox
- 1.6 CRDI - 136 hp – 4.3 l/100 km (combined) – 112 g CO2/km – seven-speed DCT (double clutch) gearbox
The new Hyundai i30 SW also stands out in terms of equipment. As standard, in any of the versions, it comes with the ever-important Safety Pack – Driver Fatigue Alert System, Emergency Autonomous Braking, Cruise Control and Lane Maintenance Support. Also noteworthy is the rear camera for parking aid, as well as the wireless cell phone charger.
A launch campaign marks the arrival of the Hyundai i30 SW in the national market, being active until July 31st.
