Rumors: Audi very close to acquiring Alfa Romeo

Italian design with German technology. The best of both worlds or the misrepresentation of a brand?

It seems that negotiations between the Audi of Rupert Stadler, CEO of the German brand, and Alfa Romeo of Sergio Marchionne, CEO of the Fiat group, are advancing with great strides. The news was made public through Wardsauto, which bases the news on sources very close to the leaders of both brands.

Although Marchionne has repeated for months on end that Alfa Romeo is not for sale because “there are things that are priceless”, the fact is that Audi seems to have found arguments that in its own way made Marchionne change his mind. According to Wardsauto, this change of position may have been achieved with the addition to the "acquisition package" of two more elements: the Fiat group's manufacturing unit in the city of Pomigliano and the well-known component manufacturer Magneti Marelli.

As is public knowledge, Sergio Marchione makes absolutely no point and is even grateful that the Fiat Group's production is not based in Italy. Partly due to its bad relationship with the unions, partly due to production costs. On the Audi side, with the acquisition of this unit, it would immediately have a place to manufacture the new models, saving a lot of time, because money doesn't seem to be the problem. What will happen to the model 166 successor published here, we don't know. But a transitional solution will certainly be reached.

And so goes the day-to-day at Audi A.G. Life is easy for those who seem to have found the ideal place to go shopping in Italy. As soon as there are more news they will be published here or on our facebook.
