New Honda S2000 on the way? Let's cross your fingers!

After we criticized Honda in the past for the pranks it has been doing to the Civic Type-R, we are back to see the light at the end of the tunnel…

And no, it's not a train! It is the new model of the S2000 roadster. According to Automotive News magazine, Honda's US department is lobbying the Japanese brand's management strongly in favor of the rebirth of the late S2000.

Also according to the magazine, Honda America's plan would be to launch a model that would directly rival the new star of the “worldly sports” segment: the Toyota GT-86. By mundane, I mean minimally accessible.

For the less attentive or for the younger ones, get to know that the Honda S2000 was one of the best sports cars created by the Japanese brand. With a chassis tuned for a ride let's say… acrobatic! And equipped with a 2,000cc atmospheric engine that delivered 247 hp at 8600 rpm, it was one of the most striking and exciting cars I've ever driven. And I didn't drive that few…

We hope the Americans can convince the Japanese, and that in a few months we'll be talking about one of the most desirable cars ever.
