Honda Civic Type R TCR. Ready to master the circuits?

The new Honda Civic Type R hasn't even hit the market yet – its launch in Portugal is scheduled for October – but we didn't have to wait long to get to know the competition version. Those responsible were the Italians from JAS Motorsport, Honda's official partner since 1998.

Based on the road version, the Honda Civic Type R TCR from JAS Motorsport is eligible to compete in the various touring car championships around the world.

In relation to the Civic Type R that we already know, this model makes use of a new and more complete aerodynamic package, in order to reduce drag, increase downforce and reduce weight to around 1250 kg.

The multilink rear suspension with adaptive damping control was also improved, and the anti-rollbar system was replaced. The list of modifications is completed with an FIA-approved rollcage and some adjustments to the ECU. These adjustments allowed the addition of a precious 10 hp extra, for a total of 330 hp of power extracted from the well-known four-cylinder VTEC turbo block.

We want to thank Honda for continuing to support us in this project. The new car shows significant development in several key points, such as aerodynamics, suspension and electronics.

Mads Fischer, project leader.

The Honda Civic Type R TCR from JAS Motorsport is available with an “endurance” variant, suitable for races such as the VLN (at the Nürburgring Nordschleife) and the 24h Series. Includes improvements in lighting, climate and ABS.

Orders are now open, and the first deliveries will start this year, on December 15th. The first 25 completed models will be ready for the start of the 2018 season.
