Alfa Romeo Giulia: the rebirth of the Italian brand

Just over a year ago, we reported here the rebirth of Alfa Romeo in full detail. The first example of this new offensive is the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Che macchina?

Celebrating 105 years old, Alfa Romeo is committed to recovering the glow lost in recent decades, in part due to ill-born models and in large part to disastrous strategic decisions that almost put an end to a century-old journey full of moments of glory.

For this relaunch, Alfa Romeo didn't do for less. It brought together all its know-how and presented the Alfa Romeo Giulia as “one of the most brilliant examples of automotive excellence”. To make the impact even greater, he introduced Giulia in its most radical version, Quadrifoglio.

The specs promise: 510hp of power, generous torque (for now unknown) and just 3.8 seconds from 0-100km/h. Although the performance values provided by the supercharged V6 mechanics – developed in partnership with Ferrari – are quite generous, Alfa Romeo claims that the Giulia is more efficient than its competitors: Mercedes C63 AMG, BMW M3 or Cadillac CTS-V. Efficiency that is partly due to the cylinder deactivation system.

To keep up with the mechanical impetus and respect the brand's dynamic legacy, the Alfa Romeo Giulia's weight distribution is 50/50. Another novelty is the use of materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum in the chassis construction, for a total weight of just 1530kg.

We also have a new Multilink suspension at the rear and a Double Wishbone at the front along with a semi-electric steering for better precision. Associated with this “bit of bad road” is the Torque Vectoring system, which allows the rear differential to decide how much power to distribute to each wheel, helping in situations of less traction and more engaged driving.

A braking system developed specifically for this version and several driving modes (Dynamic, Natural, Advanced Efficient and Racing) were not forgotten. It will also be available 4-cylinder turbo petrol and diesel engines and even the option of all-wheel drive.

There are no official images of the interior yet, but an interior built with high-quality materials is expected. All good news for lovers of the car industry, who apparently see the rebirth of a historic brand. Unfortunately, others got by the way…
