McLaren's entry-level model is there to make life hell for the competition. The new McLaren 570S is the British offensive against German rivals Audi R8 and Porsche 911, will it have what it takes? You decide.

McLaren anticipated the unveiling of the McLaren 570S for today, after the first images appeared on the internet of the new British sports car yesterday, which has its world premiere scheduled for tomorrow at the New York Motor Show. In the near future the Mclaren 570S should be available in Spider, Long Tail and Grand Tourer versions.

The McLaren 570S opens the McLaren Sports Series range, the Mclaren 650S in the Super Series and the Mclaren P1 hybrid super sports car in the Ultimate Series.

The baby McLaren has rear-wheel drive, 570 hp at 7400 rpm (hence the nomenclature) and 600 Nm, power that finds its heart in a highly revised 3.8 L V8 twin-turbo engine. These numbers in themselves already suggest a sports car with a wiry beard, but there is more: the traditional 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in 3.2 sec. and the top speed is 328 km/h. The 200 km/h appears in 9.5 seconds. Associated with this engine is a 7-speed SSG (Seamless Shift Gearbox) dual-clutch gearbox.

The suspension is all-new and variable-dampening, having been tailored to the McLaren 570S. At the front it wears 225/35/R19 tires and at the rear 285/35/R20, the chosen rubber was that of Pirelli, through some Pirelli P Zero Corsa. Because stopping 570 hp is no easy task, McLaren offers ceramic brakes as standard on the McLaren 570S.

Inside there are new gadgets following the trend. From the outset, a high-resolution TFT screen in place of the instrument panel, at the driver's service. In the center console is a 7-inch on-board computer, which in a layout similar to that seen in a Tesla, contains all the information relating to entertainment, climate control, bluetooth, etc.

Because the sound of the V8 engine may not be enough for some, McLaren offers a professional sound system with 8 speakers as standard. For those looking to carry a second orchestra in addition to the engine, there is an optional 12-speaker system from Bowers & Wilkins, capable of a modest 1280W of power.

A 42:52 (f/t) and 1313 kg weight distribution complete the numerical table of this McLaren 570S, with only official consumptions missing: McLaren guarantees that the McLaren 570S consumes only 9.2 l/100 km on a mixed cycle . Optimists? Maybe, but consumption aside, stay with the image gallery we've collected for you.
