At the end of last year the legendary Evo saga by Mitsubishi, when the Evo X ceased to be produced. The last unit produced was even auctioned, having reached the sum of 76 400 dollars (approximately 65 700 euros). The truth is that finding an immaculate Evo in the used car market can be an arduous task, even due to the tendency that exists to modify them.
It is with some surprise, therefore, that we came across a 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX, with only 15 km (nine miles) on the odometer, for sale on Ebay. This copy seems to have stopped in time, as if it had just come off the production line, despite being 11 years old. The seats and pedals are still protected by plastic and the engine compartment is immaculate.
This Evo IX is being sold by South Coast Mitsubishi in Costa Mesa, California, and has all the documents that confirm its originality. Even the VIN (identification number) is available: JA3AH86C56U058702.
The specs are as standard for the Evo IX: 280 horsepower and 391 Nm of torque taken from the 2.0 liter turbo with four inline cylinders, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This unit – in gray color – comes equipped with air conditioning, central locking, power windows and front airbags.

Of course, in the immaculate state in which this Evo IX is, the price is not exactly nice: at the time of publication of this article it amounts to more than 92 thousand euros! When on sale, the price in the US was around 31,000 euros. A remarkable enhancement, but is an Evo IX worth that much? Apparently yes, as it has already attracted 59 bids.
All of this reveals how the imagination of enthusiasts is still populated by these “heroes” of rallies. The duels between the Evo and the Impreza, both on the WRC stages and on the road, continue to be one of the biggest rivalries in the automotive world.
