To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the brand, Honda is reportedly preparing to launch a new generation Honda S2000.

There has been much speculation about the successor to the Honda S2000. Model that according to the latest rumors could arrive in 2018 – the year in which the Japanese brand celebrates its seventieth anniversary. Although Honda has not yet officially commented on the matter, some of its people in charge have already done it “between their teeth”. No major details were revealed, but according to Car and Driver, we can expect “a special model, with dimensions similar to the Mazda MX-5 but with more power”. Sounds good, doesn't it?

The Japanese brand does not currently have any platform for rear-wheel drive compact sports cars, but according to Car and Driver, that factor will not be an impediment. As for the design, the new Honda S2000 could be inspired by the new Honda NSX and the most striking lines S2000. The result might look something like this:

HONDA S2000

As for the engine, as we advanced in December 2015, it's best to forget about atmospheric engines. Honda should resort to the services of the 2.0 VTEC-Turbo engine that we find in the current generation Honda Civic Type-R in the most powerful version. In the version to access the S2000 range we can find a 1.5 VTEC-Turbo engine with a power of around 180hp.

Now let us speculate. What if, to celebrate 70 years, Honda launched the new Honda S2000 with the revolutionary new engine that it has been preparing for several years? Meet her here. We can only wait (impatiently!) for the official confirmation of the brand.
