The Honda S2000 Everyone Talks About Car Reason

It's Japanese, spins that never ends, and is the ideal amusement park for any fearless Petrohead. Meet the Honda S2000 that has been haunting the 'Green Inferno', also known as the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

A few days ago, Reason Automobile was taken by two friends and a Honda S2000 around the Nürburgring circuit together, happily humiliating other drivers. On our Facebook page, the story took on biblical proportions (over 80,000 people reached in less than 24 hours) and here on the site, the flow of visits almost put our server in trouble. Attention, I almost wrote. Because long gone are the days when our page speed was an issue – we are now as fast as the Bloodhound SSC.

Returning to the Honda S2000. The hype was so great it became imperative to find out more details about this curve-eating machine. At the outset, I had only two certainties: the first is that the car in question was actually a Honda S2000; the second is that it was impossible for "that" to be of origin. I got both.

This very special Japanese man who is bullying the other cars and drivers that populate the corners of the Nurburgring, was dubbed the Time Attack S2000. Guess why isn't it? Difficult…

This rotational weightlifter was prepared by PB Motorsport (a Greek company), and is equipped to the teeth with the best parts the Japanese market has to offer, plus some made-to-measure. You can access the full list of modifications here, but we'll just highlight the main ones.

Before starting to install expensive parts on the Honda S2000, PB Motorsport was dedicated to removing parts that were not needed. Namely, the air conditioning system, the luggage compartment covers, the original bonnet and other superfluous elements. In this way, PB Motorsport managed to reduce the weight of the set by 150kg.

With less weight, it was time to add more power. And among a handcrafted exhaust line, built by PB Motorsport itself, there was space for a gasket, an intake manifold by Hondata, electronic module by AEM, more aggressive valve commands by Brian Crower, HKS filter, S90 Racing throttles, among another plethora of pieces from recognized brands such as Spoon.

To handle so much power, the suspension has been fitted with reinforced, electronically-adjustable dampers and the geometry has been completely revised, while the brake unit has also been reworked from top to bottom. To complete the bouquet, PB Motorsport overhauled the entire aerodynamics of the S2000 to ensure it stayed glued to the ground in the fastest corners.

The result is in sight. An absolutely demonic Honda S2000, effectively fast and objectively fantastic that in less than 10 minutes passed over 40 cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
