Revelation soon. Radical Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS «hunted» without camouflage

Anonim

The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is getting closer and closer to being presented and was once again “caught” in spy photos, near Stuttgart, Germany.

But more importantly, it showed itself for the first time without any kind of camouflage. The only hidden elements are even the Porsche logos, something perfectly common in the latest stage of model development.

Compared to the "normal" 718 Cayman GT4 RS, this new 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which will be the first Porsche other than the 911 to receive the RS treatment, is full of special details.

less civilized, wilder

At the front, for example, the bumper has larger air intakes, with a very pronounced and clear lip spoiler, with a more muscular hood that integrates two NACA air intakes.

In profile, it is the forged wheels with central grip that stand out the most, as well as the perforated and oversized brake discs, which can be carbon-ceramic, a configuration that in this photo-spy "round" can be seen in a prototype with northern specifications thus confirming that this 718 Cayman GT4 RS will cross the Atlantic.

This test prototype of the unprecedented 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the North American version..

But it's impossible not to look at this 718 Cayman and not to mention the imposing rear wing, which will bear the GT4 RS designation on the sides, despite the futile attempt to cover it with self-adhesive film.

The wing, whose geometry can be adjusted manually, perfectly matches the huge rear air diffuser and promises to have a significant impact on the aerodynamics of this proposal, which has been completely overhauled compared to the 718 Cayman GT4, which becomes "civilized" in comparison.

Six cylinders naturally aspirated

Powering this 718 Cayman GT4 RS will be a 4.0 l capacity naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder engine that we already know from the GT4 (not related to the 4.0 l boxer six-cylinder of the 911 GT3), although the final power is a bit unknown.

It is certain that this GT4 RS should surpass the 420 hp of the GT4, so it is estimated that the final power will be around 450 hp, always below the 510 hp of the older “brother”, the 911 GT3 .

Going to the Nürburgring impressed

As is always the case with almost all launches from the 'house' of Stuttgart, this 718 Cayman GT4 RS has also been shown for the mythical Nürburgring, where it took an impressive 23.6s to the time of the 718 Cayman GT4 — in other words, it's more than one second fastest per kilometer (!).

It is a significant difference and helps to illustrate the changes that Porsche made to the more radical (and faster) version of the 718 Cayman, which took just 7min09.3s to cover the 20.832 km of the mythical Germanic track.
