This little Honda S600 has a big turbo

If there is a place where we didn't expect to find a small Honda S600, it would be on a drag racing track. However, it is precisely in this type of evidence that we find this example of the Japanese brand. Predictably, not much remains of the original model.

Well, just look straight ahead, where a massive 88mm turbo emerges from the hood. It is the most visible part of a machine that the original Honda S600 appears to have only the bodywork. The engine to which the turbo is attached is a surprise: it's the familiar 2JZ of… Toyota . The engine that powered the Supra – inline six cylinders and 3.0 liters – somehow fit into the engine compartment of the small S600.

The engine fit, but almost nothing else, justifying the peculiar positioning of the turbo. Let's go to numbers: properly prepared for this type of event, the 2JZ delivers around 1200 horsepower… to the wheels! In a car that only weighs 1100 kg! According to the car's owner, the best time achieved so far was 7.7 seconds in the classic 400 meters and the biggest problem seems to be keeping the little bomb in a straight line.

The video is long, about 13 minutes, and contains several conversations with both the father and the son that lead us to discover not only the car, but also the stories it contains.

We ran the video after the start of the first races, but it's worth seeing in its entirety.
