SEAT Ibiza (5th generation): the beginning of a big family?

Anonim

It is relatively easy for the design of the new SEAT Ibiza to react to bodywork variations, as these creations by designer X-Tomi show us.

One of the highlights of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show will be the presentation to the public of the 5th generation of the SEAT Ibiza. A model on which the Spanish brand has founded hopes: new platform, more interior space, new engines, new technologies and a remarkably sporty design (more details here).

It seems that the new generation has everything to continue this success story that has lasted for more than 30 years – we remind you that the first SEAT Ibiza was launched in 1984. With the launch of the 5th generation, new opportunities may arise, particularly with regard to level of bodywork branches. A strategy followed by Ford with the new Fiesta (see here).

If SEAT follows the strategy with the new Ibiza, the result could be this:

Of all the derivations presented here, there are some that have already been removed by the brand – namely the van version (ST) and the 3-door version (SC). As for the Limousine versions, it is curious how well the Ibiza responds to the addition of the 3rd volume in the bodywork (generally recalling the Audi A3 limousine). Production probability: very low.

Of these derivations, there are, however, two that seem quite likely: the X-perience version (more adventurous) and the Cupra version (remarkably sporty). There is no doubt that the Cupra version will be released, while the X-perience version, although possible, could conflict with Arona.
