Cold Start. See the ad for the Nissan 300ZX which was banned in 1990

In addition to movies like Alien or Black Hawk Down, Ridley Scott was also behind some TV commercials, such as the inevitable 1984 for Apple. What we didn't know is that the director also made an ad for the Nissan 300ZX (Z32) in the USA, in 1990.

And we didn't know why this ad was only shown once, at Super Bowl XXIV, where it was heavily criticized by various institutions and was eventually banned.

The justification? The ad was a glorification of speed. If you think that car ads are heavily regulated today…

As you can see and hear, the ad shows a strange sequence where the narrator tells his dream, in which he is on the run (we don't really know from whom) at the controls of a Nissan 300ZX and they try to capture him.

First they try with a motorbike, then with a car - an intriguing single-seater - and in the end even with a plane. But none of them can catch it, all “by fault” of the performance that the two turbos give to the V6 of the 300ZX.
