This is the roar of the new Hyundai i30 N

It’s Hyundai against the world. For the first time, the South Korean brand is working on a sports car that will be able to face the proposals coming from the “old continent”. The car was developed under the baton of Albert Biermann, a German engineer with credit established in the automotive industry – Biermann was for some years the head of BMW's M Performance division.

The entire development of the Hyundai i30 N took place at the brand's technical center at the Nürburgring, a model that has recently undergone a test phase in northern Sweden – and with Thierry Neuville at the wheel – and on the road in the UK. Hyundai's latest video shows us what to expect from the new i30 N:

But Hyundai will not stop here...

That's what you're thinking. The Hyundai i30 N will be just the first member of a family of models with a sporty pedigree. Speaking to Australians at Drive, Albert Biermann referred to the Tucson as being likely to receive the N Performance treatment, as well as the upcoming Hyundai Kauai compact SUV.

“We started with the C-segment and fastback (Veloster) but we are already working on other prototypes for the B-segment and SUV […] The fun behind the wheel is not limited to the segment or the size of the car – you can create exciting cars in any segment ”.

Albert Biermann admits that he still has to make the transition to alternative engines – emission regulations and the need to reduce consumption make this necessary. Therefore, it is almost certain that future models will resort to a hybrid solution.

The Hyundai i30 N will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next September.
