VW Golf Variant GTD and Alltrack are now on sale in Portugal

Volkswagen has increased its offer in the Golf range with the new Variant GTD and Alltrack, two complete firsts in the Golf range. The most hurried and adventurous families can now opt for the new special versions of the Variant.

The GTD Variant and the Alltrack are two of the more unique versions of the Golf Variant. In the diesel version is an icon equipped with a diesel engine with a more prominent sporting vein, while the Alltrack combines the advantages of a Variant and an SUV.

With over two million units sold, the Golf Variant is one of the most successful Volkswagen models on the market within the compact family category. The younger design now allows it to reach wider age groups, these two versions being the consecration of this advantage. Customization is the watchword and the Golf Variant is no exception.

Alltrack version for the first time on Golf Variant

Both are produced on the basis of the modular transversal platform (MQB). The new Golf Alltrack is equipped as standard with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The ground clearance was increased by 20 mm and the range of TDI engines has powers ranging from 110 (€36,108.75), 150 (€43,332.83) and 184 hp (€45,579.85).

The 184hp 2.0 TDI engine offers a six-speed DGS dual-clutch transmission, 4MOTION, EDS and XDS as standard. The technical basis is the 4MOTION all-wheel drive with the Haldex clutch. In addition to the Haldex clutch, which acts as a longitudinal differential, the electronic four-wheel differential lock EDS, integrated in the ESC electronic stability control, acts as a transverse differential on both axles. The Golf Variant Alltrack is also equipped with XDS+ on the front and rear axles: when the vehicle approaches a curve at a higher speed, the system brakes optimally as well as improving steering behavior.

In addition to its renewed abilities for off-road use, the Golf Variant Alltrack stands out in its towing capacity: it can tow loads of up to two tonnes (up 12% with brakes).

Golf Variant GTD is an unprecedented bet

With a more rugged and sporty spirit, the new Golf Variant GTD is born, making its debut for the first time. With front-wheel drive, a 2.0 liter TDI engine with 184 hp and aerodynamic finish with a chassis lowered by 15 mm.

33 years after the launch of the first Golf GTD, the Golf Variant receives the iconic acronym. The 2.0 liter TDI engine has a power of 184 HP and 380 Nm from 1,750 rpm. The advertised average consumption is 4.4 l/100 km/h in the version equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox (CO2: 115 g/km). Volkswagen offers the Golf Variant GTD also with the DSG dual clutch transmission, with an advertised consumption of 4.8 l/100 km (CO2: 125 g/km). The Variant sport and diesel version is available with front wheel drive, XDS+ and ESC Sport.

The traditional sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 7.9 seconds, regardless of the type of transmission. The maximum speed is 231 km/h (DSG: 229 km/h). The price of the VW Golf Variant GTD starts at €44,858.60 for the version with 6-speed manual gearbox and €46,383.86 for the version with DSG gearbox.
