New Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid: sustainability and performance

The Paris Motor Show will serve as a stage for the unveiling of the fourth model in the Panamera range, the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.

Investing in sustainable mobility without neglecting performance. This is the philosophy that defines the new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, a true sports saloon now featuring plug-in hybrid technology. The German model always starts in 100% electric mode (E-Power) and runs without emitting exhaust gases up to a range of 50 kilometers, with a maximum speed of 140 km/h.

Unlike its predecessor, in the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid the full power of the electric motor – 136 hp and 400 Nm of torque – is available as soon as you press the accelerator. However, it is with the help of the 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine (330 hp and 450 Nm) that the German model achieves superlative performances – the top speed is 278 km/h, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h it fulfills itself in just 4.6 seconds. In total, there are 462 hp of combined power and 700 Nm of torque distributed over the four wheels, with an average consumption of 2.5 l/100 km. The three-chamber air suspension ensures a better balance between comfort and dynamics.

The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid debuts a new eight-speed PDK gearbox with faster response times which, like the rest of the second-generation Panamera models, replaces the previous eight-speed transmission with torque converter.

Also in relation to the electric motor, the complete charging of the batteries takes 5.8 hours, in a 230 V 10-A connection. Charging 7.2 kW with a 230 V 32-A connection takes just 3.6 hours. The charging process can be started using the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) timer, or via the Porsche Car Connect app (for smartphones and Apple Watch). The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is also equipped as standard with the auxiliary air conditioning system to heat or cool the cabin while charging.

Another highlight of the second generation Panamera is the new concept of visualization and control, in the form of the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, with touch-sensitive and individually configurable panels. Two seven-inch screens, one on each side of the analogue tachometer, form the interactive cockpit – the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid features an energy meter adapted for hybrid functionality.

The Sport Chrono Package, which includes the steering wheel-integrated mode switch, is standard on the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. This switch, together with Porsche Communication Management, is used to activate the various driving modes available – Sport, Sport Plus, E-Power, Hybrid Auto, E-Hold, E-Charge. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will be present at the next Paris Motor Show, which runs from 1st to 16th October. This new version is now available for orders at a price of €115,337, with the first units being delivered in mid-April of next year.
