AMG ready to develop future Mercedes V12

Many already thought the powerful V12 engines were dead, but Mercedes doesn't think in the same way…

It is true that most brands are increasingly choosing to develop their V8 engines instead of betting on the potential of a 12-cylinder. These are increasingly rare, and all because of environmental concerns and the constant “robbery” that we have witnessed weekly with the valorization of fuels.

We even reported the interview with Antony Sheriff, Director General of McLaren, where he stated that “V12 engines are a thing of the past and should be exhibited in museums”. Maybe he'll even be right, but for now Mercedes will not give up on the iconic V12.

The Stuttgart brand has already made it known that it intends to produce new V12 engines soon, and all of them will be developed by AMG. Currently, AMG already builds the V12 engines of the S 65, SL 65, CL 65, G 65 and Pagani Huayra. A V12 engine is also planned – for 2014 – for the next generation of the S600. And for this one we expect at least 600 hp of power and a good dose of torque.
