6th stage of the Dakar with Peugeot at full speed

At a time when the most renowned drivers are beginning to distance themselves from the competition, Peugeot is seeking to maintain its dominance in the race.

The 6th stage of the Dakar 2016 – which is held exclusively in Uyuni – is the longest so far, with a special of 542km. Like yesterday's stage, the altitude between 3500 and 4200m will be a factor to take into account when defining the pace of the race, as well as the alternations between sand and rock, which, if it rains, could cause additional difficulties .

Sébastien Loeb, who starts at the front of the general classification, is looking for his 4th victory in the competition, but will certainly be pressured by the experienced Stéphane Peterhansel and Carlos Sainz. If he gets a good performance today, Nasser Al-Attiyah (Mini) could also look for a place on the podium.

As for Carlos Sousa, despite his extensive experience in the competition (17th participation), the Portuguese once again had an unlucky day, after being stuck next to a precipice. Even with the help of his colleague João Franciosi, it was not possible to remove the vehicle in time and Carlos Sousa was forced to give up on this 37th edition of the Dakar. “We are sad and saddened by this outcome. But really, this really wasn't our Dakar”, commented the Mitsubishi driver.
