The Italian sports car, described as the “ultimate open-pit Ferrari 250 GT”, headlines an auction organized by Gooding & Company.

In the world of classic cars, few have as much value as the Ferrari 250 GT. After all, we are talking about one of the most beautiful and exclusive sports cars from the house of Maranello. Produced in 1959, this model is just one of nine Ferrari 250 GT LWB (long-wheelbase) California Spider with aluminum bodywork, developed by Carrozzeria Scaglietti and certified by Ferrari Classiche.

The California Spider participated in several races between 1959 and 1964, with an emphasis on 5th place overall in the 12 Hours of Sebring, in 1960, and since then, it has been a regular presence in several car salons and beauty contests. In 2011, the Italian sports car underwent a complete restoration, returning to its original color.

With a 1603 GT chassis, Abarth racing exhaust system and a V12 engine with Weber carburetors, in its heyday the California Spider had 280 hp of power, 50 hp more than the series model. Now, the Italian model will be auctioned by Gooding & Company on August 20 and 21 at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Centre, USA, and various estimates point to a value between 18 and 20 million dollars. One thing is certain: interested parties will have to open the purse strings.
