99% of Renault models have components "made in Portugal"

The presentation of the annual results of Renault Portugal was the perfect excuse for us to visit the French group's factory on national soil. Renault's factory in Cacia is currently one of the 12 largest exporting companies in the country.

The numbers of the Renault factory in Cacia, Aveiro, are as impressive as the technology used in the entire assembly line. With an investment of 58 million euros in the last 4 years, Cacia now has an annual production of more than 500,000 gearboxes, more than 1 million oil pumps and more than 3 million different mechanical components, for a total of 262 million of euros of annual turnover.

The production that leaves the factory's lines is destined for markets in the four corners of the world. Renault claims that 99% of Renault and Dacia in circulation have “Made in Portugal” parts.

In this industrial complex with a total area of ​​340,000 m2 of which 70,000 m2 are covered area, 1016 people work directly, and it is estimated that the satellite companies that supply the factory employ another 3,000 people.
