Sex behind the wheel will increase with autonomous cars

Officials at the Canadian company Automated Vehicles Center of Excellence show reservations about autonomous driving.

"I predict that once computers take charge of driving, sex in cars will increase." This is said by Barrie Kirk, executive director of the Automated Vehicles Center of Excellence in Canada. "That's one of the things people are going to do that will eventually reduce the ability to respond quickly when the autonomous driving system stops responding."

According to the Canadian company, the arrival of autonomous driving technologies on the market will make drivers overly rely on the autonomous driving system, as is already the case with some Tesla models. However, the American brand has already made it clear that the “autopilot” system only gives the car a partial autonomy that “significantly improves safety”.

The Automated Vehicles Center of Excellence emphasizes that “it is still a few years before fully autonomous cars”. Taking into account that, according to a study carried out by Standvirtual, 71% of Portuguese people have already had sex in a car, this figure promises to increase with the arrival of autonomous driving technologies.
