Pikes Peak Hill Climb the “Race to the Clouds” will have a luxury presence this year, none other than nine-time world champion Sébastien Loeb.
Almost all rally lovers know the intro image that accompanies this text: Ari Vatanen aboard the Peugeot 405 T16 in 1988, climbing to the «clouds» at Pikes Peak, taming more than 1000 hp with one hand and with the other covering the sun. Epic!
Images that 20 years later continue to be taught to younger people because they perfectly summarize the talent, control and mastery of man over the machine.
Moments that Peugeot intends to recreate on 30 June this year, with the no less talented Sébastien Loeb in the 2013 edition of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race. For this, Peugeot didn't make a request and “asked” Citroen for the French driver to borrow, since Loeb is still linked to the “double chevron” brand, a request that Citroen accepted.
Loeb will participate in the so-called "race to the clouds" aboard a purpose-modified Peugeot 208 T16. Inserted in the Unlimited category, Peugeot will be obliged to develop a 208 T16 with at least 1000hp of power.
