It's been about three years since the last Land Rover Defender left the production line. Since then, fans of the British Jeep have been waiting (and desperate) for its successor to be revealed.
Furthermore, Land Rover has not been prodigal in revealing information about the successor of its iconic model. Aside from a few spy photos and the teaser just revealed, there's still not even a sketch or (new) prototype for the next Land Rover Defender.
Land Rover's decision not to disclose in advance any sketch of the model is due to fears that its lines could be plagiarized, as has already happened with other models.
What is already known about the Land Rover Defender
The teaser now released reveals that Land Rover decided to innovate in this new generation of Defender, with the model keeping the square shapes but presenting a very different look from its predecessor (the British brand does not seem to have followed the example of the Jeep with the Wrangler or Mercedes-Benz with the G-Class).

To ensure that the next Defender is economically viable, Land Rover will use components from the Jaguar/Land Rover group. The new model should be available in two- and four-door versions, like its predecessor.
It is also expected that the Land Rover Defender will adopt an independent suspension at the front and rear, unlike the old models that used rigid axles. In addition, Defender will have to abandon the stringer chassis and adopt a monoblock structure.
In terms of powertrains, the new Defender will probably use the four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar/Land Rover. Despite the Land Rover USA publication mentioning the date December 27, there is no exact information as to when the new Defender will be unveiled.
