The new Opel Astra BiTurbo introduces the 1.6 CDTI engine with 160 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It also combines the lightweight architecture with the latest Diesel technology.

The new 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI diesel engine, with 160 hp of power and 350Nm of maximum torque will be available in both bodies – hatchback and Sports Tourer – capable of accelerating the models of the Astra range from 0 to 100km/h by 8.6 seconds with a six-speed manual transmission. Recovery from 80 to 120km/h is 7.5 seconds, while top speed is 220km/h. Despite these high performance values, the brand announces average consumption of around 4.1 l/100km and 109 g/km of CO2 in the cycle in this NEDC (New European Driving Cycle).

The 4-cylinder engine with two turbochargers operating sequentially, in two stages, goes up the rotation very easily up to 4000 rpm, where the maximum power appears. In addition to power, another feature of the new block from Opel is the more refined operation, with the aim of making the cabin quieter and more comfortable.

At a technological level, the IntelliLink information and entertainment systems and the OnStar permanent support services stand out.

According to Karl-Thomas Neumann, CEO of Opel:

The new Astra is one of the lightest models in this market range. Now, with the new BiTurbo, few competitors will be able to match the Astra in this combination of power, performance, refinement and fuel economy.

The 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI versions of the new Astra will be available for order in Portugal from the month of July. The new engine will be associated with the most complete equipment level, Innovation, with prices starting at 32,000 euros.
