SEAT, after announcing historic operating earnings in 2016, starts 2017 with a significant increase in sales in the first three months of the year.

The first quarter of the year saw SEAT sales increase by around 14% compared to the same period last year, corresponding to a total of 117,300 cars sold. It is the brand's highest volume since 2001.

In March alone, SEAT delivered 53 200 cars, easily surpassing the 46 500 achieved in 2016. Since March 2000, the brand has not seen such high numbers.

SEAT saw sales grow double digits in the most varied European markets and also in countries like Mexico.

SEAT Vice President of Sales and Marketing Wayne Griffiths commented on these results:

“We closed the first quarter with better numbers than initial estimates. We are one of the fastest growing brands in Europe and we are very pleased with the overall result, as well as the fact that our growth is progressing evenly in the markets where we are present thanks to our onslaught of new models. The arrival of the Leon facelift boosted sales and the new Ibiza will make a positive contribution to these results starting in June.”

If 2016 was a year of excellent results, 2017 promises to be even better. The arrival on the markets of the new Ibiza is expected to keep momentum in the second half of the year. Later in the year the Arona crossover will be unveiled, which will complement the Ibiza as SEAT's B-segment proposals. And next year, we will see the brand's SUV range completed with the introduction of a new SUV that will position itself above the Ateca.
