The 2014 Audi S1 was unveiled a few hours ago. After we revealed the first image yesterday, today is the day to let you know all the details.
The Geneva Motor Show is approaching at full speed (March 4th to 5th) and the first revelations begin to appear. The Audi S1 2014, available in three-door and Sportback (five-door) versions, pays homage to Group B rally icon, the Audi Sport Quattro S1. As a tribute, it intends to revive the memory of the competition's heydays, with the rules of today.
The 2014 Audi S1 presents itself with the 2.0 TFSI engine, delivering 231 horsepower and a maximum torque of 370Nm. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 5.8 seconds (5.9 in the Sportback version) and the quattro system will certainly guarantee top efficiency in its segment. The maximum speed is 250km/h.
This pocket rocket wants to be, above all, a compact sports car where efficiency and sportiness are, of course, the watchwords. However, Audi did not want to leave behind the rules that these days impose, announcing an average consumption of 7 liters per 100 km (7.1 for the Sportback). Over here, let's wait for the Audi S1 2014 test to see whether or not this can be a day-to-day car.
The 2014 Audi S1 has been modified on several levels to receive this power. The suspension has been revamped, as well as the electromechanical power steering. To stop this pocket-rocket, Audi installed 310 mm diameter discs at the front. The red painted tweezers that we see in the images, with the abbreviation “S1”, are an option.
To make driving more immersive, we have the electronic differential lock, with selective torque control. This function, integrated in the electronic stability control (ESC), has two deactivation levels. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, but an optional S Tronic dual-clutch gearbox.
On the outside we have four new colors and in the image we see the optional quattro package. New LED lights at the front and a new configuration at the rear also accompany the aesthetic changes and the distinctive details of the 2014 Audi S1. 17-inch wheels are standard, but there are also 18-inch wheels in the list of options.
The interior has also undergone changes and features new configuration options. We can choose new styling packages, to promote the initials S and quattro within the cabin. Aluminum pedals and sports seats are standard.
Gadgets proliferate throughout the list of standard and optional. The 2014 Audi S1 offers as an option the MMI plus system (with folding color monitor), Bose surround sound system and the Audi Connect system (with telephone, internet connection, Wi-Fi hotspot and personalized services).
The prices for the national market are not yet known, but a price around 40 thousand euros (after taxes) is to be expected. The 2014 Audi S1 will be marketed from the second quarter of 2014, in versions 3 and 5 doors (Sportback). Its live and color debut will be at the Geneva Motor Show, on March 4, 2013.
