Lamborghini Huracán: the Taurus Hurricane

Anonim

It's already a cliché! When there is little time for us to officially get to know a new model, the images appear, “accidentally”, ahead of schedule. The Lamborghini Huracán, recently renamed successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo, is fortunately also a premature victim of leaks.

These are the first images of the future Lamborghini Huracán. It will have the role of replacing the always spectacular Gallardo, with 10 years on the market, and the best-selling Lamborghini ever, with more than 14 thousand units sold. Rivals such as the Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren 12C have raised the bar in recent years, and Gallardo, as a veteran of the group, has already called for a revamping of arguments for such powerful rivals. In 2014, the Lamborghini Huracán will have to prove that the bull is the strongest.

This is information that exists, for now, about Huracán, where the recipe does not differ much from the current Gallardo. Like this one, the Lamborghini Huracán is developed together with the Audi R8, or rather with its successor, which we should meet in 2015. It also has all-wheel drive and the engine is an evolution of the current 5.2l V10. Announces a “healthy” 610hp achieved at a whopping 8250rpm. Torque reaches 560Nm at 6500rpm and a traditional 0-100 km/h sprint takes 3.2 seconds. Despite the unquestionable power, Lamborghini notes that its V10 is able to meet the strict Euro6 standards, and thanks to the feature of direct injection and start-stop system, announces an average consumption of 12.5l/100km. Optimistic?

The transmission is a first for Lamborghini. The Lamborghini Huracán will use the Audi R8's dual-clutch transmission, a much more refined and effective option than the ISR found on the Aventador. And as it seems to be the norm, we will be able to choose different modes of use by simply pressing a button: Strada, Sport and Corsa. These three modes will act on the transmission, steering and suspension, changing the dynamic characteristics of the Huracán. For this to happen, the Lamborghini Huracán will come with active steering (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering) and magnetoreological dampers (Magneride), which allow you to change, practically instantly, its hardness level, something we can already find in several Ferrari models or in the Corvette, the first car to use this technology.

As you can imagine, the performances will be at a high level, I believe, capable of reorganizing our bowels! Just 9.9 seconds from 0 to … 200km/h, it's visceral! The advertised dry weight is 1422kg, a few tens of kilos more than its closest rivals, which are under 1400kg, with the blame perhaps falling on the two additional drive wheels of the Lamborghini Huracán. As important as accelerating is braking, and for that, we find tireless brake discs in carbon-ceramic compound.

Visually, like any Lamborghini, it impresses, and positively! There were fears that the unjustified visual exaggeration of Veneno e Egoista was the visual motto for the Lamborghini Huracán, transforming it into an amalgamation of facets, edges and aerodynamic apparatus raised to a caricatural scale, contributing to the drama, but lacking in aesthetic quality. Surprise to see a clean looking creature, more contained than the Aventador, without free decorative elements. There is an influence of the Sesto Elemento, but the Lamborghini Huracán is more refined.

The unique proportions, spectacularity and even aggressiveness are still there, but they were achieved, above all by proportion, surface modeling and few key structural lines. The hexagon is the recurrent graphic motif, present in the definition of a series of elements and areas, both externally and internally. Contributing to a modern look, LED front and rear optics, with a Y motif, already present in other Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Huracán will be made publicly known at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
