Honda NSX Pikes Peak EV: the Japanese weapon for the «race to the clouds»

Compared to the model that the Japanese brand entered last year, the Honda NSX Pikes Peak EV has triple the power.

It is with the model that you see in the images that Honda will compete in the 2016 edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race, also known as «race to the clouds» (because the course overcomes a gap of 1440m, from the start, on the 7th Mile from Pikes Peak Motorway, to the finish at 4,300m altitude, with an average gradient of 7%). Entered in the Electric Modified Class category, the Honda NSX Pikes Peak EV will be driven by the Japanese rider Tetsuya Yamano, who already last year had lined up for the Japanese brand at the wheel of an electric Honda CR-Z.

Although aesthetically reminiscent of the new Honda NSX, the similarities end there. Unlike the production model, this NSX is 100% electric. Equipped with two electric motors for each axle, Honda says that this model is "the maximum exponent of the SH-AWD system", capable of vectoring the torque for each of the wheels instantly, depending on several variables: acceleration, braking, angle of curve and type of floor. Without revealing maximum power numbers, the brand says that this model is three times more powerful than last year's model. It is therefore expected that the power will greatly exceed 1000hp.
