Confirmations have been trickling in: first it was the Jaguar F-TYPE, followed by the SUV F-PACE and the XE and XF saloons. Now it's time for the Range Rover Velar to receive the new engine Ingenium turbo four-cylinder, 2.0 liters, 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
This P300 four-cylinder engine was developed by Jaguar Land Rover itself, and is produced at the Wolverhampton site, representing an investment of one billion pounds (about 1.13 billion euros).
According to the brand, the double inlet turbochargers with ceramic bearings help to reduce friction, while the high-flow vane compressor provides 26% more airflow, thus increasing efficiency – with this engine, Velar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 exact seconds.
The new Range Rover Velar, presented for the first time in March at the Geneva Motor Show, is already on sale through the brand's dealer network. The first units arrive on the market after the summer of 2017.
Prices start at 71,033 € for the 2.0 Diesel version of 180 hp and 77,957 € for the version with 240 hp power. The 300 hp 3.0 Diesel version is available from €93,305.
In terms of gasoline, the Range Rover Velar starts in 68,200 € for the 250 hp 2.0 engine, while the new 300 hp Ingenium block is on sale for €72,570 . The more powerful 3.0 liter gasoline engine with 380 hp is priced from €93,242 . Regardless of the engine, all versions are equipped with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system.
