At a time when MPVs, or minivans, seem to be an endangered species, the Ford S-Max and Galaxy saw their arguments reinforced with the arrival of a hybrid engine (not plug-in), after the renovation that took place about a year ago.
Thus, both use a gasoline engine with 2.5 l of capacity, atmospheric, which works according to the most efficient Atkinson cycle, and which is associated with an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery with only 1.1 kWh of capacity.
After all, the two engines result in 190 hp of maximum combined power that are sent to the front wheels through a continuous variation box (CVT).

The S-Max and Galaxy Hybrid numbers
According to Ford, the adoption of this hybrid engine allows, in the S-Max Hybrid (which the brand identifies as SAV or Sports Activity Vehicle and not MPV), a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 10% compared to those of a diesel engine.

That said, the S-Max Hybrid announces average consumption of 6.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions between 146 and 147 g/km, according to the WLTP cycle. The 0 to 100 km/h are completed in 9.8s.
For the Ford Galaxy Hybrid, the North American brand advances with consumption from 6.4 to 6.5 l/100 km, CO2 emissions from 148 to 149 g/km and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10s.

The towing capacity of the S-Max Hybrid varies between 1560 and 1750 kg depending on the version.
How much?
Although the news is, of course, the hybrid variants, the rest of the range of Ford S-Max and Galaxy also saw prices updated. The Ford Galaxy, in particular, is available in our country with three engines and only one equipment level, the Titanium.
