High SEAT sales bring record in March

After breaking its record for units sold in 2018 and having seen sales grow for the sixth consecutive year, the SEAT is keeping “good shape” in 2019. Proof of this are the more than 150,000 units sold in the first quarter of the year (a new record) and the fact that SEAT's sales in March beat its delivery record by one single month.

In total were sold 62 500 SEAT vehicles in March of this year , which corresponds to a growth of 3.5% compared to March 2018, the month in which 60,400 SEAT models had been sold, a value that corresponded, until now, to the record of deliveries in a single month by the Spanish brand .

Regarding the accounts for the first quarter of the year, the Spanish brand saw sales grow 8.8% compared to the same period in 2018, reaching the 151 400 units delivered , well above the previous record of 139,200 units set in the first quarter of last year.

SEAT Tarraco
SEAT Vice President Commercial and CUPRA CEO Wayne Griffiths believes SEAT Tarraco will help further drive SEAT sales.

CUPRA also helped

Supporting the two records achieved by SEAT are the sales of CUPRA (the result of which is integrated into the total sales value of SEAT). In the first quarter of 2019, CUPRA saw sales grow 115.7% compared to the equivalent quarter of last year, reaching 6000 units sold.

In relation to SEAT's main markets, these continue to be Spain and Germany, with 29,400 units sold and a growth of 2.9% and 16.2%, respectively. However, none of them saw a growth in sales like what occurred in Algeria, where SEAT sold 38.8% more, reaching 10,000 units.

CUPRA's exceptional results in the first quarter encourage us to continue to expand the brand's presence in Europe and in strategic regions such as North Africa and Latin America.

Wayne Griffiths, Sales Vice President of SEAT and CEO of CUPRA

About these results, Wayne Grifiths, Commercial Vice President of SEAT and CEO of CUPRA, said “having a new and wide range of products allowed us to continue to beat records in the first quarter of the year”, also stressing that due to uncertainties and challenges of the economic scenario the record achieved is of even greater importance.
