Virgin boss loses F1 bet and goes to dress up as hostess... finally!

Bet dates back to 2010, but only in May 2013 will it be fulfilled.

The famous American tycoon Richard Branson will, in May of next year, dress as a flight attendant on the low-cost airline Air Asia, thus fulfilling a losing bet with the owner of that company.

The story goes back to 2010, when Richard Branson and Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes, both with teams in the Formula 1 World Cup, bet that whoever finished lowest in the constructors' championship would serve on the competing airline .

Luck ended up smiling to the Indian team, we are sorry Richard!

Branson lost – Lotus finished 10th and Virgin 12th – but the trip had to be postponed in early 2011 because Richard Branson had health problems. Now Tony Fernandes said that Branson contacted him to honor the bet. “He will be a flight attendant in May at Air Asia. He is two years late, but the important thing is that he hasn't forgotten”, wrote Tony Fernandes on the social network Twitter.

Fernandes had already announced some time ago that the American magnate would serve coffee, food and everything that passengers are entitled to on a special 13-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to London. Flight tickets will be auctioned and the revenue will revert to charities. As the lyrics of Rui Veloso's song say “the promise is due”…
