The Estoril Circuit received the necessary approval to host an F1 Grand Prix. The news, released today by Parpública, brings new hope to Formula 1 fans in Portugal.

The assessment was carried out by the FIA in August of this year and resulted in a change in the paradigm that existed in Portugal for more than 17 years: the Estoril Circuit is now the only circuit in Portugal, approved to receive a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The evaluation carried out on August 7th, gives the Autodromo the maximum homologation (Grade 1), and since 1996 it was homologated in Grade 2+1T, which allowed, at most, the performance of Formula 1 tests. the approval of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

The approval is valid until 2016 and until then, we can only hope that it will be possible to use it. Knowing the financial investment that is required to place the Estoril Circuit on the F1 Grand Prix map, expectations may not be the best.
