The world presentation of the V90 Cross Country Ocean Race took place at the Doca de Pedrouços, in Lisbon, which will host, until the 5th of November, the Portuguese stopover of the 2017-2018 Edition of the Volvo Ocean Race. The Automobile Reason was there and got to know it up close.
This special edition intends to share the same adventurous spirit that characterizes the Volvo Ocean Race. In this version, the versatile V90 Cross Country Ocean Race uses a unique combination and is available with two diesel engines (D4 and D5) and two gasoline engines (T5 and T6).
The unique color combination, with the exclusive Crystal White Pearl color, is combined with two contrasting colors – Kaolin Gray and Flare Orange. The guard plates, wheel arch extensions, grate and sill trims are finished in Kaolin Grey. The front protection plates and the front lower side moldings feature elements in Flare Orange that enhance the contrast. The appearance is further enhanced by a bold front grille and unique 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the exclusive front anti-slip plates are highlighted with unique lighting and design details, which are combined with a mix of high-quality materials such as leather and carbon fiber, which contribute to a sporty, elegant and luxurious atmosphere. Two colors are also available here. Charcoal or Blond/Charcoal.
The upholstery was created exclusively for the V90 Cross Country Ocean Race, and combines leather with the practical sense of fabric. All seats feature a distinctive orange underlining, a Volvo Ocean Race logo and an orange label on the side.
The seat belts, also in orange, are a tribute to the most important safety innovation in automotive history, which was the creation of Volvo and engineer Nils Bohlin in the year 1959.
The trunk is a world
In addition to a 115/230v socket that allows you to charge and run equipment such as laptops, cameras and drones, the cargo compartment includes a powerful LED light integrated inside the tailgate. There is also a waterproof LED flashlight made of aerospace aluminum, fixed to the side of the load compartment.
Inspired by the flooring of luxury yachts, the load compartment platform is made of a durable material that is both water-resistant and easy to clean, and has built-in shiny metal strips. A mat that covers the rear bumper when the tailgate is open is also standard equipment, and is fixed using magnets that adhere to the platform's metal strips.
For extra storage space, net supports can be fitted on both sides of the luggage compartment, or a net can be fitted to secure gear, preventing it from slipping.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country special edition Volvo Ocean Race arrives in Portugal in January 2018 , with prices starting at 71 500 euros . Until then, you can see it on display at the Volvo Ocean Race Race Village, during the days of the event, from October 31st to November 5th.
