BMW unveiled its new diesel engine. We can count on a 3.0 liter block with four turbos, capable of delivering 400 hp and 760Nm of maximum torque.

The first model to feature the new Bavarian engine, unveiled at the 37th edition of the Vienna Automotive Engineering Symposium, will be the 750d xDrive, which will sprint up to 100km/h in just over 4.5 seconds, before reaching the maximum speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The new diesel engine from the Munich manufacturer delivers 400hp and 760Nm of maximum torque (limited to “make life easier” for the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission), available between 2000rpm and 3000rpm and replaces the 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder engine tri-turbo (381hp and 740Nm), debuted on the BMW M550d. What's more, the brand claims that this engine will be 5% more economical than its predecessor and will have a lower maintenance value.

In addition to the BMW 750d xDrive, the X5 M50d, X6 M60d and the next generation BMW M550d xDrive are also expected to receive the new quad-turbo engine.
