Less than a week to get to know the new Volvo XC40. It will be on September 21st at 10:15 am that we will be able to follow it live through the brand's official facebook page, via the Volvo Portugal website.

Anticipated by a series of teasers, the XC40 concentrates several firsts by the Swedish brand. Not only will it place an SUV in the fastest growing segment in the market, it will also debut the CMA – Compact Modular Architecture platform. Developed in collaboration with Geely, the brand's current owner, it will serve all future Volvo compact models (under 60 models).

The Volvo XC40 will make use of in-line three- and four-cylinder engines, petrol and diesel, as well as Twin Engine hybrid versions. Expectations are high for the new model – will it be able to replicate the success of its segment-leading XC60 brother in Europe? We'll be here to see.

A “leak” of information allowed seeing the Volvo XC40 ahead of schedule. And the suspicions were confirmed – the brand's most compact SUV is the “flat face” of the 40.1 concept, introduced in 2016. The differences boil down to regulatory and industrial needs: the XC40 will have mirrors worthy of the name, like conventional knobs on the doors. But the proportions, body lines, definition of elements and even the two-tone body are identical or very similar.

The Volvo XC40 will be produced at the brand's factory in Gent, Belgium. The presentation of the model in Portugal will take place on the 31st of October and sales will start at the beginning of next year.
