Francarstein: Mustolvo

There are those who think that having an icon of the American automobile industry, such as a beautiful Ford Mustang, is not exclusive enough, and therefore, it is necessary to give free rein to creativity in order to distinguish a Ford Mustang from so many others...

So how about cutting the roof of a Volvo 240 DL station wagon and giving a shooting brake soul to America's most beloved pony? Does it seem absurd to you? Not for this gentleman…

It all started when the owner of a 6-cylinder Ford Mustang decided he needed more boot space in his car, and when it comes to space, sensibility and rationality, what better brand than Volvo? Well, that's exactly what this American thought and didn't take half measures: he transplanted the sensible roof of a Volvo 240 DL to the body of the reckless Mustang.

The moderation was short-lived and the 6-cylinder engine was replaced by a powerful 8.4L V8. The mechanical part was treated, the exterior was painted in the well-known “Midnight Purple” and the interior was restored with cream colored leather and fabrics, as well as new digital elements, such as the speedometer and tachometer.

According to the owner, more than 87 thousand euros were spent on this entire Resto Mod project and the result is usually pleasing, so much so that the owner guarantees that he will continue to win prizes – as he has regularly done.

Currently up for auction on eBay for around €27 thousand, this Mustang (or Mustolvo, as we call it) has covered 320 km traveled since it was restored.
